Wednesday Work Parties – Fix Kids Bikes
It takes a lot of elves tinkering to get bikes in the hands of kids at Christmas House.
Join us for a work party 6 – 9 p.m. Wednesdays starting Sept.16. All levels of mechanical abilities are welcome from the professional mechanic to the spit and polisher.
Last year we fixed 105 bikes for low income kids. We have the tools and the bikes, we just need you to meet that goal again.
Kid’s Bike Swap – Sunday, June 7, 2015
Thanks to many volunteers, 22 kids went home very happy from this year’s swap. Kids and parents brought bikes to trade in for a bigger model. It was a beautiful day for test riding in the parking lot.
Monday Night Roller Night – Fall 2015
We haven’t picked the start date or time yet, but when we do, plan to join us Mondays for a great workout and awesome music on the rollers. Bring your rollers and bike, and any music you might want to share. Riding on a bike trainer is also OK, and we will have extra trainers and rollers to try out for the uninitiated.
Christmas House 2015
At Sharing Wheels, we believe that kids of all ages – and adults – can benefit from a bicycle. Christmas House touches thousands of kids each year, so we try to fix up as many kids bikes as possible each fall.
Thanks to the hours of work and fun by many Sharing Wheels volunteers, we delivered 105 bikes to Christmas House in 2014. We may break that record in 2015, thanks to a good start on bikes that are currently in storage courtesy of Everett Downtown Storage (thanks for their community support!)
Christmas House provides a helmet with every bike, and also purchases or gets donated new bikes for families to select. The Sharing Wheels bikes add variety and choices and help a few more families go home with the joy of two wheels (sometimes three!)
