Christmas House 2017

Sharing Wheels has had a long-time partnership with Christmas House in Everett. Our goal each fall is to fix up 100 kids bikes for the low-income kids they serve.

Volunteers Earn Credit, Kudos

Drop-in on one of our special work parties focused on fixing and cleaning kids bikes. All you need to help is a willingness to get greasy.

 6  to 9 p.m. Thursday Nov. 16 and Nov. 30

11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday Nov. 19

You might fix a flat tire, put on a new bike seat, clean off dirt, or give a bike a tune-up, if you know how. Its a great chance to learn or practice some basic bike mechanic skills, and a good way to get on Santa’s good list.

Volunteer Incentives

Help at three work parties this year, and earn $20 credit to spend on anything  at the shop . Must sign in and help at least 1.5 hours per event. Volunteers who work at least 10 hours in a month can also make special orders through our wholesaler at cost plus 20% (plus tax).

Groups Welcome

Your family or organization are welcome to contribute to the cause. Bring a group of friends from work or service club to a work party. and have some fun fixing bikes. Kids old enough to help can come provided they are supervised by a responsible adult.

*BIKES Club of Snohomish County is sponsoring the work party on Oct. 22. BIKES will have lead volunteers at the event, and provide lunch and snacks. The public is also welcome.

Donate a good bike

All the bikes we work on are donated by the community. If you have a kids bike in good condition – still rideable and shiny – bring it by the shop during open hours.

Rusty, broken bikes take too much time and money to fix.

Even free bikes cost money

We may put $10 to $20 in new parts on a bike to make it safe and shiny for the kids.  That adds up to about $1,500  in tires, seats, handlebar grips, etc. Plus we put about 350 hours of volunteer labor into fixing bikes for Christmas House each year.

We couldn’t afford the Christmas House bike program without volunteer and community support. BIKES Club of Snohomish County has been a long-time sponsor of Sharing Wheels. For several years they have donated $1,000 toward the cost of parts for Christmas House.

             Everett Downtown Storage

Thanks to Sno-Isle Food Co-Op for sponsoring healthy juice and snacks at all our fall work parties.  A grant from B.I.K.E.S. Club of Snohomish County pays for the parts that make the bikes like new.  Everett Downtown Storage provides space for all the bikes we get ready.
